We are excited to announce the 10th edition of the New York Forum of Amazigh Film (NYFAF) on Thursday, April 24, 2025, in the Little Theater. This year's theme is: 'NYFAF at 10: A Decade of Celebrating Amazigh Voices in Film.'

1:00 PM - 3:15 PM: Tattooed (54min) + Workshop with Alia Benslimane and Dahlia El Sayed.
A documentary on the ancient practice and symbols of tattoos in Morocco, with discussion led by Professor Dahlia El Sayed (Humanities) and Tunisian Amazigh artist Aida Bensliman. Followed by a hands-on Amazigh tattoo symbolism workshop with Aida Bensliman open to all students (see flyer).
3:25 PM - 4:25PM: Renaissance Amazigh 2004 (18min) by Dounia Benjelloun.
A documentary on the successful resistance movement of Moroccan Amazigh poeple and celebration of our book: Amazigh Cinema: An Introduction to North African Indigenous Film (Eds. Lucy R McNair and Yahya Laayouni, University of Regina Press, 2025).
5:45 PM - 8:30 PM: (Y)Our Mother (1h36min) Samira Mouzghibati 2024, documentary.
Feature documentary screening of an intimate and powerful film by Belgian-Moroccan filmmaker Samira El Mouzghibati.
We encourage you to add this event to your syllabus and bring your classes. A student assignment will be provided.
