Workshop: Working Within the Limits - Anyone looking to create their short film with little to no budget including new filmmakers are sure to benefit from a quick crash-course on best practices of Micro-Budget film making. The workshop will introduce a three-step approach to short film making. The Pre-Production creative mindset and the How-To approach, the value of networking and sweat equity, and the multitasking role of the producer on set in the Production phase, and the post-Production phase of what to do with the film afterwards. The presentation will include interactive portions, links to forms and sites with a Q & A at the end.

Bio: Peter S. Giakoumis has production experiences working on film and TV projects with near zero to over $500,000 budgets. He held the title Executive Producer, Assistant Director, and writer on “The Stranded Warrior” currently in Post Production; Co-Producer and Director on the epic music video: “On the Eve of the Fall” for the rock band Phoenix Reign; Associate Producer and 2nd AD on the feature movie Once a Week for Life; Producer and Director on short film titled: The Tower Protocol. Producer and co-host of the social media pop culture streaming show, IFB Interfleet Broadcasting now in its fourth season. He is a Film Fellow with the Wagner Archive at LAGCC.

Workshop: Film Making 101 - I will give on camera setup to record an event or what I do on a daily basis at a press conference, or a concert series This will include, preparing the camera prior to the shoot, what you will need, to set up, things to look for and must haves with you at all times i.e utility bag, media to record and lenses to use depending on what you are shooting. 

Bio: Originally from England, when I emigrated to America to attend College, studying Corporate Communications and Radio and Television Broadcasting at BMCC and Brooklyn College, I also received a certification as an Audio Engineer.

Gained experience as a handheld camera person for a local video production company specializing in large scale concert performances for  bands. Branched off to freelance for several local and international entertainment shows in both English and Spanish which allowed me to travel to the Dominican Republic, England, Brazil and most of the Caribbean. My profession has allowed me to work for several news agencies News 12 Westchester, CBS, WPIX and Fox 5 as a freelance camera person and In the last 18 years. I have worked for the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment as one of the Mayors media team videographers, covering City Hall press conferences, breaking news stories, that involve getting out important information to the general public via the Mayors live broadcast channel, streaming live to all news outlets in the Tri-State and their affiliates nationwide.

I am also a content creator (Bilingual, English and Spanish), assisting local producers with their content and my own original culturally themed content. 

As a freelancer (I am Staff), it allows you to learn to do everything, from camera set ups, to audio and lighting, and for some editing, in the field you need to know all of the above to get a clean image.

Workshop: Early Media Career Development - This workshop will focus on reel/portfolio development, as well as best practices for landing internships, jobs, and grants/other forms of funding for young creatives pursuing careers in the media industry. This is an ideal workshop for creatives looking to take their student projects to the next level, as well as soon-to-be graduates looking for viable work opportunities. Additionally, we will discuss career trajectories and some of the realities of the industry so you are prepared for the next step in your media journey.

Bio: Patrick Quinn (US) is a multidisciplinary artist who has exhibited and performed all over the world. In 2020, he received his PhD in Electronic Arts from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and currently lives and teaches in New York City. In 2022, he started an experimental creative space called Green Door Studio in collaboration with Fountain House, a non-profit fighting to improve health, increase opportunity, and end social and economic isolation for people most impacted by mental illness. In May 2024, Quinn and fellow artist Cem Çakmak will premiere a new installation titled INFRA/ULTRA at frei-raum.berlin art space in Berlin, Germany.
