COLE JAZZ Workshop

Event Description 

Join COLE JAZZ & The NEW Jack Cole Dancers for a FREE day of Jazz dancing! Coming off the success of their CDI residency at LPAC's Little Theater, the company will offer a five-hour workshop exploring the roots of Jack Cole's timeless legacy and the American Jazz dance canon, and reflecting the company's intensive training that prepares them to embody Jack Cole's dynamic style. The day will kick off with Jack Cole Technique with by Artistic Director Cam Loeser, before moving into the cultural modalities that inform this work, including African Technique with Angel Kaba and Bharatanatyam/ Classical Indian Technique with Ramita Ravi. The day will culminate with Cam Loeser and other company members teaching repertoire from their CLUB ACT, which premiered at LPAC's Little Theater on February 7th and is gearing up for an Off-Broadway premiere this June. Come join us for a thrilling day of research, discovery, humanity, and joy!

COLE JAZZ & The NEW Jack Cole's residency at LaGuardia Performing Arts Center is part of the CUNY Dance Initiative (CDI), which receives major support from The Mertz Gilmore Foundation and Howard Gilman Foundation. Additional support is provided by the SHS Foundation, Rockefeller Brothers Fund’s Charles E. Culpeper Arts & Culture program, The Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation, and the Harkness Foundation for Dance.
