Star Trek 60 Years Celebration

Event Description

Star Trek: A Celebration of 60 Years

Celebrate six decades of Star Trek with an afternoon of performances, cosplay, conversation, community, and more at LPAC.

For 60 years, Star Trek has imagined a future shaped by exploration, curiosity, diversity, and the belief that we can build a better world together. Join fellow fans, families, artists, and community members for a free celebration of the stories, characters, and ideas that have made Star Trek a cultural phenomenon.

1:00–3:00 PM | Young Earthlings & Families

Our youngest Starfleet cadets take center stage with an afternoon designed for kids and families.

Activities include:

  • Hands-on art-making stations

  • A Children’s Cosplay Show, where young fans can show off their favorite Star Trek-inspired, sci-fi, or original creations

  • Music, community activities, and opportunities to meet costumed characters and fellow fans

Children’s Cosplay Show: Registration will be available at the event and is limited to the first 10 participants. Each participant will have a chance to take the stage, show off their costume, and tell the audience about their creation.

3:00–6:00 PM | Star Trek 60th Anniversary Celebration

The celebration continues with an afternoon of Star Trek, live performance, cosplay, and conversation.

A Special Video Cameo from Kate Mulgrew

We’re excited to welcome a special video cameo from Kate Mulgrew, beloved by Star Trek fans for her iconic portrayal of Captain Kathryn Janeway on Star Trek: Voyager. Her appearance adds a special moment to our celebration of Star Trek and its enduring legacy.

Star Trek on the Big Screen

Settle into LPAC's Little Theater for a special screening of Star Trek: The Original Series • Let That Be Your Last Battlefield as part of our 60th anniversary celebration.

Two survivors of a devasted planet remain committed to destroying one another

Featuring: William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, James Doohan, Nichelle Nichols

Live Performances

Throughout the afternoon, Star Trek shares the stage with artists from our community, with performances including live music, poetry, and dance.

Featuring:

Closet Cosplay Show

You don’t need a transporter room full of professional costume pieces to join the fun. Come dressed as your favorite character, create your own interpretation, or assemble a look from whatever is already in your closet. Our Closet Cosplay Show gives adult fans the chance to walk the stage, share their look, and compete for prizes before our judges select the winners.

Registration opens at 3:00 PM and is limited to 10 participants.

Plus...

Expect cosplayers throughout the event, community tables, photo opportunities, music, and a closing of "Faith of the Heart" written by Diane Warren and originally performed by Rod Stewart (the Star Trek Enterprise Theme Song) with your fellow Star Trek fans.

Admission is FREE. RSVP required.

Star Trek attire and cosplay are enthusiastically encouraged, but absolutely not required. Come in uniform, come in costume, or come exactly as you are.

Set your course for Long Island City and join us as we celebrate 60 years of boldly going where no one has gone before.
