Concert For Peace & Justice
Event Description
Join the New York City Labor Chorus and special guests Calpulli Mexican Dance Company for an afternoon of music, movement, solidarity, and hope.

For more than three decades, the New York City Labor Chorus has used song to give voice to the struggles, aspirations, and shared humanity of working people. In Concert for Peace & Justice, the Chorus brings together a wide-ranging repertoire drawing from folk, spiritual, gospel, jazz, classical, and Broadway traditions, creating a program that is at once reflective, joyful, and deeply rooted in community.

Made up of approximately 50 singers representing more than 20 unions from across the metropolitan area, the Chorus has been singing for peace, justice, and workers’ rights since 1991. Its members have performed everywhere from picket lines and union halls to community centers, protests, and major concert stages, carrying a musical message of solidarity throughout New York and beyond.

The program is led by Music Director Jana Ballard, with Dennis Nelson at the piano.

Joining the Chorus are special guests Calpulli Mexican Dance Company, bringing the power of dance and cultural tradition to an afternoon devoted to the ways artists and communities come together in pursuit of dignity, justice, and connection.

At a moment when questions of peace, economic fairness, workers’ rights, and social justice remain urgent, Concert for Peace & Justice offers something both simple and powerful: the experience of gathering together and raising our voices.
