Rooted in Queens, we celebrate LGBTQ+ voices, stories, and histories through performances, films, partnerships, and community gatherings that make space for connection, visibility, and joy.

Pride Events

LAGCC Pride on the Greenway

Wednesday, June 3rd - 2pm - 4pm - Greenway

Join us for a Pride celebration uplifting creativity, identity, and community across LaGuardia. The day begins at 1:00 p.m. in the M-Lobby with Pride displays created by La Casa Ambassadors, followed by a free outdoor celebration on the Greenway featuring The Bad Judies, a student fashion show, music, food, games, and more. Organizing partners include LPAC, La Casa de las Américas / CREAR Futuros, LaGuardia and Wagner Archives, and the LGBTQIA+ Consortium.

Pride in Queens: Julio of Jackson Heights

Friday June 5th - 6:30pm - Little Theater

 

Julio of Jackson Heights tells the story of Julio Rivera, whose 1990 murder helped spark the emergence and mobilization of Jackson Heights as one of New York City’s largest LGBTQ communities. A talkback with filmmaker Richard Shpuntoff and Queens Pride founder/former Council Member Danny Dromm will follow.

LAGCC Float in Queens Pride

Sunday, June 7th - 11am - 2pm

 

Join LaGuardia students, faculty, and staff in the Queens Pride Parade with a float provided by the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus.

Pride in Queens: My Sunnyside

Thursday, June 11th - 6:30pm  - Little Theater

​My Sunnyside follows Jo, a trans man, and Allie, a trans woman, as they build a life together in Sunnyside, in a moving portrait of love, family, resilience and joy amid rising transphobia. A talkback with Director Matylda Kawka, and Allie Brashears will follow.

 

Pride in Queens: Bright Vignettes - How Astoria Got its Pride

Thursday, June 18th 6:30pm - Stuart Cinema and Cafe

This local documentary celebrates the queer artists, activists, performers, and residents who helped make Astoria’s first official Pride event a reality in 2023. Rooted in grassroots organizing and neighborhood history, Bright Vignettes shines a light on the people and stories behind Astoria’s growing LGBTQ+ visibility.
