LaGuardia Performing Arts Center welcomes back Yaa Samar! Dance Theatre for a week-long residency from January 5–9.

Yaa Samar’s work blends contemporary dance and theater with rhythm and unison movement, inviting play, improvisation, and embodied storytelling. During this residency, the company will continue developing Shabaab(working title), a full-length performance by Samar Haddad King that explores the tenderness, intimacy, and resilience of Arab male friendship through movement, text, and puppetry.

Following their residency at LPAC, Yaa Samar! Dance Theatre will share a presentation at the APAP Conference through Live Artery Showings (January 10, 2026), presented by New York Live Arts. Audiences can also look forward to a summer outdoor event at LPAC, with more details to be announced.
