Building on LPAC’s long-running Rough Draft Festival, Second Draft marks the next stage in the development of new work: a space where artists can revisit, deepen, and refine ideas that have moved beyond their earliest explorations. 

The festival features invited artists sharing works in progress through performances and conversations with participating artists. Audiences are invited into the creative process, gaining insight into how new work evolves through experimentation, revision, and collaboration.

Second Draft celebrates work in motion. As part of LPAC’s commitment to supporting new work, the festival creates opportunities for artists to strengthen their storytelling, test new possibilities, and build meaningful connections with audiences and fellow artists.

MAMA/RUN is a visceral choreopoem about motherhood, abandonment, survival, and witness. On a suspended playground that shifts between memory, courtroom, prison, and sanctuary, a mother and the grown child she left behind meet inside the story that has defined them both. Through poetry, movement, breath, chalk, and ritual, they confront the questions easy narratives avoid: Can survival exist withoutinnocence? Can love arrive too late and still mean something? What does a child inherit from being left alive - and what does a mother carry when neither punishment nor forgiveness is enough?

Fierce, intimate, and visually arresting, MAMA/RUN refuses to reduce either character to victim or villain. It asks the audience not to choose a side, but to witness what remains when two people must live inside the same wound.

FURBALL

In Furball, Sam, finds a massive furball (made of cat fur) growing in her vagina after her partner doesn't wash their hands after petting their cat before having sex. Sam seeks out the help of a gynecologist who doesn't have any answers, a Reddit rabbit hole that leads to more fears, and a support group, who just want to make a podcast.
